We've played this one close, as we didn't want anyone to worry. The end result is positive, so read knowing the outcome isn't as bad as it could have been.
The Week of June 12-18 of 2017
Ethan wakes up in the middle of the night, crying in pain. His stomach is hurting, and he's crying. Tammy is up with him and he vomits. About 30 minutes or so later, it's all over and he feels fine.
"A bug?"
"Yeah, probably, keep him home from school tomorrow"
The Week of June 19-25 of 2017
Ethan wakes up in the middle of the night, crying in pain. His stomach is hurting, and he's crying. Tammy is up with him and he throws up again. About 30 minutes or so later, it's all over and he feels fine.
"This is weird, keep an eye out"
"Exactly"
July 1st, 2017
Ethan wakes up in the middle of the night, crying in pain. His stomach is hurting, and he's crying. I'm up with him and he throws up again. About 30 minutes or so later, it's all over and he feels fine.
"We need to see a doctor, ASAP"
"Yes we do"
I bring him in to his primary physician, she's on holiday so a stand in is in place. Obviously, not happy about this, though they do order an xray. We recall our surgeon stating "Bring him in if he has stomach problems, with his history, it's best that we see him as well" So, we make an appointment and see Dr. Keijzer. I call and schedule an appointment, they give me a date, I explain a bit about what it is and why we're calling, we're moved up a week.
Appointment 1 - Everything seems 'ok', but due to his history we have to rule out that something went wrong with the surgery. Scheduled a contrast test... You may recall Tammy posting years ago about how this works. Drink a chemical, do a ton of xrays and watch as things move, or don't. This time around, Ethan is older, can talk, and has his muscle with him in Dean. The toughest part of the day is that Ethan LOVES breakfast, and wasn't allowed to eat anything. The test goes for an hour and a half to two hours. At which point we head to Smitty's where Ethan eats everything.... his food, my food, Dean's food...
Poop came out powdery white... so that was weird. But expected.
That evening we have another incident, this time, no puke, and less tears. I rub his back and he falls asleep. We've had another incident since then, again, no vomit, fewer tears, tums works to calm him and he's back to sleep.
Results day: Everything went well, which means no surgery required at this time! YAY! That's a win!
However, that also means we don't know what the issue really is yet. Could be an allergy, could be bowel sticking together due to scar tissue needing some force to get it moving again, could be something else entirely. We're keeping our eyes open, and should anything more come of this, we'll update everyone.
omg that sounds so scary. I havent checked this in a few years (obviously)
